The Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is the fourth chakra and it is associated with love, relationships, self acceptance, intimacy, generosity, and kindness. The heart chakra is located at the center of the chest. It is connected to our heart, lungs and thymus gland. The color associated with this chakra is green and pink. When your heart chakra is balanced and open you feel full of love and happiness. You are able to forgive easily, and you are full of compassion. If the heart chakra is blocked you may feel grief, unhappiness, bitterness, anger and jealousy. An unbalanced heart chakra can bring out fear of love commitment and feelings of untrustworthiness due to past betrayals. You may be afraid of being alone, you may tend to feel emotionally distant in your relationship or you may feel needy in the relationship. You may suffer from social anxiety, feel jealous of other people, you may have a sense of anger toward other people, and it may be hard to forgive other people and you may hold grudges. You may also be suspicious of others and not able to trust others. When your heart chakra is blocked you could have issues with your heart or lung or the chest area in general. The physical symptoms that stem from a blocked heart chakra are: high blood pressure, poor circulation, heart problems, or even asthma. To balance your heart chakra immerse yourself in nature and take a walk.  Surround yourself with green trees and plants.

You can cleanse the heart chakra with essential oils. Essential oils that help open the heart chakra are: rose, bergamot, lavender, Ylang Ylang, and Jasmine. Try a loving and healing meditation to open the heart chakra. Visualize loving energy around you and say a mantra such as, “I let the angels take away any hurt that I have experienced with love in my life, I only allow people in my life that love me for who I am and who treat me only with love and kindness.” Incorporate the color green and pink into your life. Wear the colors green and or pink, choose plants and flowers that are green and pink and incorporate them into your work or home space. Eat foods that are pink or green. Heart chakra foods include spinach, kale, lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, green peppers, leeks, avocados, green apples, green grapes, kiwi, watermelon, strawberries, radishes, rhubarb and pink lady apples. You can say affirmations such as “I love and forgive myself.”  “My emotions are in check and in harmony with my being.” “I deserve love happiness and abundance of my life.” “ I am worthy of the love others give me.”  “I forgive myself and others.” “ I am love.”  “I let go of fear, anger, and guilt.”  “I listen to my heart and I am kind to others and open to love and being loved.” “I am happy for others in their success in life.” “I gracefully let go of the past and forgive myself and others.” I recommend burning a green or pink candle while doing a meditation or affirmations. Just remember to be cautious when burning candles and never leave them unattended.
